You can purchase it, either as an ebook or paperback copy. Right now it's only available on the Chipmunkapublishing website. It will be in the book trade ex: Amazon, chapters/indigo, barnesandnoble, and many more outlets shortly.

I am pleased that I am able to associate myself with Jason Pegler and his publishing firm. They have been able to put aside some unjust interpretations of the stigmas surrounding mental health illness. They are doing a wonderful job making people aware of this illness and taking away the fright factor surrounding it. We all, and might I say all, have been touched in someway with a phobia, whether it be a fear of something, or maybe, an obsession regarding our looks, which might lead to eating disorders. Yes, these are all mental conditions, although people might laugh at this statement. Anything relating to the mind and its abnormalities is considered a mental health proplem. So, please let's not judge. I thank Mr. Pegler for putting forth this awareness to the public.

Lil in "Lil's Way" and now its sequel "Jaded" suffer Dissociative Identity Disorder. Follow her on her plight. These novels are totally fiction but they deal with the characteristics regarding this illness. I was able to write a story around Lil, in order for you to better understand what people with DID go through.

"Lil's Way is full of mystery and intrique, and "Jaded" will take you on a journey of the mind that only the best of readers will fully comprehend.

Please read and enjoy these two novels. I am sure you won't be disappointed.

Don't Be Too Anxious

I have not been visible lately due to some setbacks that I have incurred. Yes, exactly as I stated above. Don't be too anxious to get your work out there. I did. I couldn't wait and in doing so, made some major errors along the way. I would re-think a few things that I have learned in my writing journey, hopefully, giving some insight to up and coming new authors that anxiously want their work published.

Please don't be in a hurry. Take your time to create and solely focus on your story. That is what you do...write. Don't become your own editor, as I did. Ridiculous!! Let the professionals take care of that.

I write for a mental health publisher, whose main concern is getting the word out there about mental health and the stigmas surrounding it. They are a social enterprise, wanting writers to tell their stories and needing writers, like me, to research the many characteristics associated with a certain mental illness. In my case, I happen to be a somewhat expert on Dissociative Identity Disorder. I have studied and recorded and brought awareness to this illness through my main character 'Lil' both in "Lil's Way" and its sequel "Jaded."

So, do you really think that I had time to worry about how many dots, and commas were there in putting this knowledge out? No Way...as my young grandson would say. Ha.

When "Lil's Way" went to the publisher, they did as little editing as needed. Now, they tell you as many publishers do, that it is not entirely the responsibility of the publishing house to completely do the editing. The author must take on some of the work. I am sure that they do the usual spellcheck. In my case, when I got back my first copy for approval, I was more concerned about changing the language back from British spellcheck to Canadian. They, for instance, would write fetal as foetal, realize as realise. The 'z's' became 's's'. So many different ways to spell things. I was so concerned with the change back that I did not take the time to concentrate on the actual spelling and word placements.

So, needless to say, "Lil's Way" was published, and when I read it, I was not happy. Oh, the story is fabulous and readers loved Lil and her Montreal. But, and with a big BUT, there were many incorrect typos and this needed to be addressed.

I, being a perfectionist, have had "Lil's Way" reprinted. I hired a professional editor and she was able to clean up the house, as they say. She was fabulous and will do all my work from now on. I am very happy now with the reprint. Anyone who has purchased "Lil's Way" and can prove this, can contact me and I will take back the old version and gladly replace it with a complimentary new one. Contact me at chocolat_1q1@videotron.ca .

As for my new work "Jaded" it was professionally edited.

What I am trying to come forth with is. Have your work cleaned up and rely on no one but yourself as the creator of this masterpiece, to have it released in the best form as possible. I know that there might always be the odd mistake, here and there, even with professional editing. I have read some great novels only to be taken back by errors. But, my dear writers, do the best you can. and do not rely on anyone for this but yourselves.

I am proud to say "Lil's Way" and "Jaded" will be out shortly. I am proud to say that it has been professionally edited and I am truly happy with the outcome.

Chipmunkapublishing House has been wonderful in getting my work out there. Jason Pegler the owner is devoted to the cause and is encouraging writers with either their own mental health stories or authors like me, who have studied and written about mental health. I love to write stories about this illness and how it is not recognized as a serious one. If I can get the word out there through my many stories and characters, then I will feel truly enlightened, not only with my writing as an author, but my contribution to mental health awareness.

Devon's Heart

Well as I have mentioned, my second novel 'Jaded' is finished. It will be out definitely this year. As to exactly what time, hopefully sooner than later. It is a very long process. One does not just write and publish immediately. Novel writing is tedious and the work involved can only be understood by a fellow author. Writing - editing - re-editing - then cover layout - more editing - it just never stops. And don't forget, your publishing house is not just dealing with you. They have many authors to work with.

I get so frustrated at times, but my true love is in the writing. So what do I do? Start my next project. I like all the ends tied up neatly but if I were to wait solely for 'Jaded' to be in print, there would be such a waste of time in between. So, I trudge forth and continue with my work. And that work in progress is 'Devon's Heart.' This will be my third novel.

'Lil's Way' and 'Jaded' are joined together as a sequel. They concentrate on mental health issues. Now 'Devon's Heart is anything but that. It is a heart wrenching love story. Taking place in Montreal and England, set this beautiful scene for my lovers.

The novel centers around a letter. A letter that was written many years ago. It holds the answers to one of the greatest love stories ever told.

Hopefully you will look forward to reading it. I will post the prologue to 'Devon's Heart' soon.

Time Management

I write approximately 5-7 hours a day. I find it hard to answer emails from all my readers. I still receive 30-40 emails a day. I have 3 email accounts open to facilitate these.

So, please, if you have written me and I seem to be ignoring you, it is just that I am really busy. That is why I have opened the "Question of the week."

"Jaded" is still in negotiations and will definitely be out sometime this year. It is finished and I am really happy with the end product. Now it is time to complete "Devon's Heart." I have noticed that I am a drama queen with my writing style. I love mystery and keeping my audience on their toes. I am having problems with this latest novel because it is written with a happier note. Trying to change it up a little.

One of my dear readers on Facebook sent me this, and it made me once again realize the real meaning of why I write. She had lent the book to one of her friends who said:

"Lil's Way is taking over my life!"

And that my dear friends is why I write novels.

Reader's Question for the Week January 30, 2011

Have you ever thought of self-publishing?

Answer: Most definitely!! Many authors go that route out of shear frustration, and I can totally understand it. I, almost self-published. After 159 rejections, it can get a person down.

I am not against this form of publishing at all, and there are many good books that have come out on the market this way. I personally like the satisfaction of a publishing house looking at your work, then validating it, then offering you a contract. Publishing houses put a lot of money into this and in order to publish you, they make sure that you have something worth marketing.

But then again many authors like to be in charge of their own destiny. They like to control every aspect of the finished product. I totally understand that, being a bit of a control freak myself. The finished product is exactly the same, in fact sometimes better.

There have been great authors that have first self-published in order to get their work out there, and then later picked up by a big publishing firm.

So to summarize: Self-publishing has pros and cons. It is your choice entirely. I like being handled by a publishing house. Oh! and not to forget, self-publishing cost YOU, the author, money. I must truly admit I have never put one red cent out on my book, my publisher has done that all for me. So if you have anywhere between $2000-$10,000, and want to get your book out there immediately, go the self-publishing route. If you are a good writer, it really does not matter.

The readers will be the only judge of that.

See you next week.

Reader's Question of the Week- Jan.23, 2011

Miss Sullivan, how do you avoid misspelled words, or making sure you have the correct punctuation?

That's a hard one to answer; you are never completely sure. Some of my favorite authors, Agatha Christie, Dick Francis, just to mention a few, have spelling and punctuation errors in their books. And I am more than positive(not like me), that they themselves are not responsible; they have editors and publishers to blame, and some of them, the best in the field. Also sometimes when a book goes into reprint by another publishing house for whatever the reason, there can be mistakes made as well.

The way I look at it, is this. If you are writing a novel, with anywhere between 50,000 to 600,000 or more words, you are apt to make mistakes. That is a lot of writing to get out. If an author types like I do, about 100 words per minute, they are trying to keep their 'train of thought', and get it written down as quickly as possible. Do you really think that we have time to say, "Oh, do I put a comma after that, or do I put a semi colon there?" Absolutely not!! The editing is done after the manuscript is written. And even after many edits, there will most assuredly be some mistakes. Like I said that is a lot of words to get right.

And to my readers: are you really enjoying the story or its plot? If you are so concerned about every little dot put in, or the odd spelling mistake, then my friend, you are not into the story. Or maybe the storyline is just so boring that these mishaps stick out like a sore thumb.

I used to worry about mistakes, and yes, in 'Lil's Way' it was brought to my attention the few errors that I had made, but the real readers only spoke of the marvelous story. Let it be known that I am in no way, saying that authors should put forth sloppy work, just give us some slack people.

Ask yourself this question. Are you taking a English writing course whereby you have to correct our work? Or, are you sitting with a nice cuppa, feet up by the fire, enjoying the magic of the story and the author's vivid imagination.

Think about it.

Reader's Question for The Week of January 16th/11

This reader's question is: Colleen, how many hours a day do you devote to your writing?

Now that's a hard question to answer precisely. Writing is a creative art and I feel that any form of creation comes from within the person creating it. We are all so very unique in our artistic endeavours, so giving a time frame to this is almost impossible. It is never really scheduled. If I were to give you a round figure, it is probably between five to eight hours a day. Yes, believe it or not, this is a full time job!! The hours are the only part of it not set in stone.

I might wake up in the middle of the night with an idea leading to a chapter's plot. I then put the coffee pot on, whether this be at 3 AM and you might not see me until noon that same day. Other days I might be exasperated and have what they call a block and put maybe just one paragraph together. It really depends on the circumstances at hand.

I tend to write better when I have been around people and see things that I want to jot down or use in my many dramas. My mood shows in the pages of my work. If I am sad, this mood will come forth in my characters, and sometimes this is a very rewarding write, the same with happiness.

So, I don't know if I have answered your questions, but to the best of my knowledge, I am a free spirit; most writers are. Our art is not something that you can create with your hands(except to type). This comes from within, and we are never sure as to what frame of mind greets us with each waking day.

Rejection Is Part Of a Writer's Life

I hope you all have strong shoulders because if you want to get your work published, be ready for many rejection letters. I personally had 139 until my wonderful publisher finally said "Yes."

First and foremost you have to realize the amount of money that a publishing house invests in a writer to get their work our there. It had better be worth their time and effort, or else forget it. Money unfortunately makes the world go round and they want to make money off of you. Sounds perfectly fair to me. Please keep trying and believe in yourself, for the more you send out queried letters, the better your chance at being published.

Here are just a few of the rejections that famous authors received:
The 'Tale of Peter Rabbit' was turned down so many times that Beatrix Potter had to self-published it to get it out there.

"I'm sorry Mr. Kipling, but you just don't know how to use the English language." Editor of The San Francisco Examiner to Rudyard Kipling.

H.G. Wells endured the indignity of rejection, when he submitted his manuscript, "The war of the worlds," That said, "An endless nightmare."

Regarding "The Spy who came in from the cold," it was written,"This book has no future."

Edgar Allen Poe was told, "Readers in this country have a decided and strong preference for works in which a single and connected story occupies the entire volume."

Animal Farm, by George Orwell, " It is impossible to sell animal stories in the United States."

And there are at least 150 more that I can relate to. So never give up my aspiring writers.

'Jaded' Sequel to 'Lil's Way'- Reader's Question of the Week- What is 'Jaded' About?

I am happy to tell you that 'Jaded' will be out in the early Spring. This new novel has more pages than 'Lil's Way' and the storyline has more twists and turns than a rubber snake. It will definitely keep our readers on their toes.

It is very hard to go into detail without giving the story away, but if you have read 'Lil's Way' you won't be disappointed with the outcome of 'Jaded.' The reseach put in and process of achieving this outcome, has made a very interesting read.

My characters are strong. Remember how we introduced Jade who was Lil's daughter in 'Lil's Way", well she is a prominent character in 'Jaded.' Also, Ted, Jade's twin brother, Lil's long lost son, who was introduced in the last chapter, is right there beside Jade. I introduce Ted's adoptive parents, and the ordeals that they endured. We will visit many new places, while seeing them through our character's eyes. Although taking place in Montreal, we go back in time to the Underground Railroad and the plight of the early slaves in New England. We talk in detail about Boston Brahmins(the upper class yankee families).

If you enjoyed 'Lil's Way', you will be even more lost in the lives of the Legault, Cabot and Stills families. It is a must read.

I will keep you posted as to the release date.

Similarities To Lil And Me???

Today one of my readers asked me if I was Lil? She felt that this character was so believable that it had to be me. She also felt that Lil's feelings were too real to be fiction. No one could make up such passion within a main character, unless they had lived it themselves.

So to clarify a few things, my name is Colleen Elizabeth, and yes, we share the same name. Lil is described as a skinny red head when she was younger, therefore fitting my description as a young girl perfectly. We must stop there though, because as the years unfolded, Lil remained thin, and I unfortunately, gained some poundage.

My real life mother was very beautiful like Lil's mother. I described my mother, when looking for a visual image of Margaret. (You can find this in Chapter two, p.14, 15)

My grandparents were from the Old country. When I talk about my grandmother stretching a meal of roast beef and Yorkshire pudding, and resulting in the most wonderful feast, I am describing my grandparents perfectly. Even their small, tidy home is depicted here.

The house on Saint Sulpice Street is indeed a home I spent a good part of my life in. The details of this time are unfortunately for me alone. But let it be known, that there is a house of that description there, on that very street.

Expos '67' was my memory of the wonderful world fair that came to Montreal. I bought a pass and visited that playground each and every night, from April to October when it ended. I was familiar with each pavilion and travelled by the newly built Metro making my way around town.

I dated an RCMP officer and we would wander up the mountain and share many happy moments there, although he is not the love that I describe in my book. Martin Legault was very real to me. I and my Martin would have many picnics on the top of Mount Royal. I worked and loved Montreal with such an intense passion for the city, and I still feel this today. I own Montreal.

I was part of the FLQ crisis in Montreal, and lived through their outrageous rampages.

My parents were wonderful and in no way compared to the terrible parents of Lil. The only thing that I can relate to Lil, is her inward nature. I was terribly shy and would spend many hours playing alone, yes, with imaginary friends. I never fit in because, now, I realize that there was a fire burning inside of me, much stronger than I could understand. I wanted at a very young age to write. I always thought that I was different, and now I know why. I would spend hours with a pad and paper, jotting down thoughts or writing poetry.I would play in the cupboard under the stairs to have the needed privacy to write and dream. What 8 year old does that? I felt there was something wrong with me. At 8, I seemed older than most children my age. I just did not fit in. I considered them childish, funny but true. My worst time, was at night, for I could never fall asleep. People and places were being replayed in my mind and I would fantasize about them and make up stories, placing these people within. I hated being me, but now have come to understand the calling that I was destined to.

Writers are a strange bunch of people. Our lives belong to everyone that we meet and we remember them in order to characterize and fictionalize them.

So to answer your question: a big part of me is in this book. I have taken bits and pieces of my life and made Lil, a very believable character indeed. I invented Dissociative Identity Disorder(although a real mental disorder) and studied and read research books to understand it perfectly. Research is a big part of a writer's job.

I am happy that I was that skinny 8 year old writing in the cupboard, under the stairs. For if not for her, I would never have become an author.

Reader's Questions Answered for The First Week of January

I thought it might be fun and informative to answer some of the questions that I get asked by my many readers. I will try to do this on a more frequent basis, time permitting. I get several emails a week and have so little time to answer them. Hopefully by updating my blog they will all be covered.

Question: How do you come up with ideas for your books? Are they based on real life people and events?

Well in answer to the above: Definitely they are based on experiences that I have come across in my life, although highly exaggerated once on paper. I have a very long memory, on the verge of photogenic, and it helps format story ideas for my books. I have to control myself from being obvious when I speak with, or interchange with people for I find myself constantly studying their expressions in order to incorporate this into my many characters. I know or can identity when people are being phony, or when they are feeling bad about themselves. This is just a talent that I have been given. Each and everyone of my characters has a little bit of someone that I have met in my life, whether it be a personality trait or facial expression or character flaw.

I am not alone in this. All writers do the same. How could we make places and people so believable if we have not in someway experienced them?I might take the good qualities from one person and combine them with the bad qualities of another and come up with a whole new person. John Sharpe the character in 'Lil's Way' was based on a man that I met and still know. I get an edgy feeling while in his presence, although I see him maybe once a year, if. So when I was trying to come up with a visual personality of John, I thought of him.

Each and every place that I write about, I have been there. In 'Lil's Way' the Sister House was based on a convent that I had visited and stayed at for a retreat back in the early 80's. There really is a place that exists like that, although the nun's were absolutely wonderful, not the crazies that I portray in 'Jaded.' I lived and walked the many streets of Montreal and still do. It is my city and I have travelled abroad many times, but have never been so enamoured with a city like I am with My Montreal. I just love it, so it is very easy to write about.
So unfortunately when you meet up with me, be prepared to be a subject of interest or a character in my next book.

Happy New Year

Well I must admit that this year I was in bed way before it was time to welcome in 2011. Why? I don't really know. I feel at times New Year's Eve is a reason for forced happiness. God forbid that you aren't happy and blowing horns at the strike of midnight. I write, I search and I study the behavioural habits of people. Many feel that because they are just not bursting with enthusiasm at midnight, there is truly something wrong with them. This causes concern about their immediate disposition. Now that is crap. You just can't turn on happiness with a few bottles of bubbly, and crowded rooms full of strangers. To me this is such an impersonal way to spend your time. I would rather be with a few intimate friends and the people I love. And that song" Should old acquaintance be forgot" makes me sad and think of funerals.
What a bummer I am, but think about it.
Make each and every day feel like New Year's Eve. I personally don't need fake party hats or a hyped up atmosphere to inspire happiness in me.
Happy New Year my dear friends.

The Importance of Dialogue in Writing

How do I create characters? That is the question most asked me, by my many readers. Characters are very important in the development of a story and its credibility with the public. If your character, especially your main character, the protagonist, is unbelievable, your story will indubitably be a flop. Creating likely as well as believable personalities is the part that will get the reader really involved with your story, especially its plot. A student of mine asked how to separate the characteristics and form different visual pictures of these characters, within one's mind, while all you have is the written word. The most important way to achieve this differential is in the dialogue. Make sure that each character sounds different. Some inexperienced writers make dialogue sound like the writer themselves. If it sounds like Colleen speaking, then the effect of the writing will be useless and each character, although of a different name and identity will sound like Colleen. In real life people are all different so make this come across in your writing. Have a mindset of how you want say, John or Matthew to talk. Make their words come alive with meaning and description and this will definitely form that visual picture in the reader's mind. John might be the cowboy of the group, well come across with this in your dialogue. He might say, "Howdy" while greeting you instead of 'Hello."Use of different words and accents will make these unique individuals come alive. Punctuation can also be an added tool, if used tactfully. In my first novel my main character Lil was lovable and innocent. I wanted the audience to love her and yet at the same time feel abhorrence for her life. Now imagine if I had made her a curser, spurting out swear words like a trucker. How totally unbelievable would I have portrayed poor Lil. But as for Jenny, the villain or manipulator of the book, we wanted to really believe in her evilness, so, I made her dialogue very crude and wordy. All believable, all written by the same writer, me. So this is the first most important lesson in writing. Make each and every character unique and believable by using dialogue to fit their individual personalities. So to end off this lesson: Remember Dialogue is one of the main keys to becoming a great writer.
Hope to share more of my knowledge with you in the coming months.

New Poem In Second Novel `Jaded`

First and foremost, this picture is the book cover of Jaded. It, like my first book cover was designed by Peter Vassilakos. He is truly an amazing talent and I will continue to work with him on all my book covers.

My personal trademark in all my books will be a poem on its first page. I hope you enjoyed my poem in 'Lil's Way."

I love to write poetry and have been writing since I was a very young child. My first poem I wrote at 6, not to good...but it was still a poem.

This is the poem that will appear on the first page of 'Jaded." I know it is deep but try to reach deeper within its meaning and see if you can find an understanding.

My angels are but demons be winged
Confusion lies in the glow of their halo
Protruding light from thorns within
They drink my blood, then bid me ado.

Enter the hero and save my soul
Be he disguised with distorted attire
Will I know his name and call out to him?
Speaking of evil, behold the liar!

Am I to avoid the thrash of the devil?
Looking out I am still blinded by thee
Will he come forth and comfort?
Mine eyes float above void of sockets to see.

I sense the eerie presence of his forceful stance
His nearness is consuming, but I am he
Octopus arms are reaching for air
Death has arrived and encompassed me.

My New Novel 'Devon's Heart

Well, there is one thing for sure, my next book will be called 'Devon's Heart.' Now you are probably thinking Devon is a person, not so. Devon is a small county in the SouthWestern part of England, also referred to as Devonshire. Cornwall is to its west and Dorset and Somerset to its East. It is one of the most beautiful and travelled tourist attractions. Devon has seaside resorts and the landscape is breathtaking.

I fell in love with this wonderful part of the world in 1973 when I myself was romantically involved and very much in love. I have visited it many times since. My heart was aching to write about this area, and so that is why I called my book 'Devon's Heart.' Not to mention that my maternal grandfather was also born in Devonshire. There will be so many exciting events to read about, and the characters that I will create will stay in your heart forever. I know I am rushing things. 'Jaded' is still in the publishing stages but imagining something, then, creating and writing about it, is what I love to do best. I will keep you more updated than I did in the past. Now I'm off to Devon my dears, off to meet the new characters that will invade my very being. I only found out this week exactly where I was going with 'Jaded'. It's just the way I write. I never have an outline mainly for this reason. I get into my book and live through its many characters, so they change daily as do my moods. I never really know from one day to the next where they will take me.
My adrenaline is going crazy with excitement. I am so pleased with the outcome of this story. Now for editing. I have edited but have also found the most wonderful team of editors to complete my book to perfection. I only wish that I had done this for 'Lil's Way' but you live and learn. I was just so excited to get my first novel out there that I overlooked a few important points. It was definitely a learning process. I can't wait to edit and send'Jaded' off to my publisher. Book #3 is already in the making. The title is 'Devon's Heart' and I am really excited with this new project. Anyway, one thing at a time. Let's get 'Jaded' out there.

Almost Finished 'Jaded' Sequel to 'Lil's Way'

I have been busy lately. I have finished my book cover. I loved the work that my photographer Peter Vassilakos did on my first cover 'Lil's Way'. So I figured, why spoil a great thing? He did an amazing job for me again. I am forever indebted to this wonderful talent. It won't be long before the storyline is completely finished. I have written 60,000 words and am nearing completion. There are so many twists and turns that I am even losing my way. I sit down and start typing and the end result always amazes me. It comes to me as I type.
My sweet loyal fans, you won't be disappointed. I know that you thought 'Lil's Way' was hard to beat, but I think I just might have with its sequel. Time for the final editing and re-reads, and that is the hard part.

More News About 'Lil's Way.'

I want to share this great news with you. My novel 'Lil's Way' is now on the shelves of the Atwater Library and Computer Centre. This is a great honor.
I have had a really rough couple of months, and my writing has taken second place to the many happenings in my life. First my husband had open heart surgery (he is fine now) then my mother fractured her leg and had to stay with me. I was in the hospital for irregular heart beat. And there is something else that is coming up that I must keep confidential. So as you can see, it has not been the best of times. But the above news has rekindled that burning desire to continue with my work.
Hopefully I can put all that behind me and focus on my writing goals. 'Jaded' my second novel is almost completed. I love to write and with the colder weather it gives me the needed drive to do this.
I hope all my fans have had a great summer and I am so sorry for dumping on you but thems the facts. Ha. I'm still busy writing my columns for the local newspaper and hopefully will ad to that soon.
Check it out:http://quebecbooks.qwf.org/books/view/1200

Thank you Cedec (LLL) for being such a wonderful host

I was asked to represent the authors in our community and what a wonderful day I had. Cedec is an organization that promotes Arts, Culture and Tourism to the Lower Laurentian area of Quebec. I was amazed at just how much talent we have in this area. We are growing at such a rapid pace and I am so very honored to be part of this wonderful community. I tend to hibernate with my writing and it was such an informative day being able to get out there and mix with our local talent. I met Guy Rodgers from Elan. He promotes artistic talent throughout Quebec. The Drama society was also represented strongly. Local artisans displayed their wares and it was a pleasure to view them. I look foreward to being a part of Cedec(LLL) and help promote the arts to our area.

An Invitation

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 146px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Pwf9wHBc16w/S-Vp0gXe10I/AAAAAAAAAM8/GG6iLcvNZa0/s200/Invitation.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5468893673273874242" />
I have been asked to represent our local writers at this event. I am sure from what I have seen that some of you get more than others. I wonder why?? Well yesterday I was talking to some of my other writer friends and I was appalled at what they were saying. If they are not getting the amount of reviews that they need, they will write up some for themselves or better still, get friends to do it for them. They change of incorporate new email addresses and create names of people that are not even on this planet. I wondered why so many crap books (excuse my opinion) get such great raves.I want to scream out ant tell them that these counterfeit reviews has nothing to do with talent. I would rather get one great review than many meaningless ones just to boost up my sales. Even some writers can be corrupt. This is your work and should be treated like your child. Honesty and dedication will get you somewhere, not a few meaningless words posted by paid off participants. Talent is the key. If you have it the reviews will come in. If not you had better put more effort in re-inventing yourself and your work.

Spring Is In The Air

I have been working non-stop on the completion of my second novel 'Jaded.' I realize that the ideas for writing don't come from outlines or jotted down notes. With me, I have to just sit in front of my computer, staring at a blank page, and the ideas start to flow. I know, silly as it seems, that is what works for me. Some days I leave my computer and have added many new characters that I hadn't even dreamed of the day before. My imagination is overflowing and the mix of new characters is endless. I also have realized that you must set a certain time, each and every day for writing. I get up at 6:30 and always write for at least two hours sometimes more. I try to do 1000 words per day, if possible. It only takes about 67,000 to make a book. I am nearing the 40,000 word mark.
I have suddenly become aware of the effect my main character Lil is having on my writing. When 'Jaded' her sequel is over, my gosh who will I write about? I have been writing about Lil for so long(six years) that I can't imagine another main character. I will definitely have to find one though. Any ideas? I really want this novel finished before September, and then I know from the past experience it will be out in paperback September 2011. I have been so very confused as to how I wanted my main character Lil to come to terms with Dissociative Identity Disorder((DID) and what would be the outcome of her pitiful life. Last night was magical. I thought about it and finally have come to realize that I have the perfect ending. It is going to be a shocker. If you have read 'Lil's Way' you have already come to certain conclusions, but never underestimate the power of Lil. 'Jaded' has so many twists and turns that you won't be able to put the novel down. The ending is such a twist it will keep you wondering for days.
Hope to have it in your hands soon. I am kind of saddened to see 2009 go for it was a great year for our family. We were blessed with two adorable grandsons and my first novel 'Lil's Way' was published both in e-book and most recently the paperback version. New Year's Resolutions are very difficult for me for I tend to be a free spirit and any form of regulation(such as resolutions)are foreign to me. Each day is new and exciting and definitely not planned. But I realize I must set some guidelines if I want to continue with my writing.
I want my second novel Lil's sequel to be completed and published this year. I as usual will do or try to accomplish the number one resolution of all time, to get in shape and lose some weight. Haven't we all heard that one before. But I will give it my best shot. Spending time with my family has never been anythng but a pure joy so if I say I will spend more time with them, that would be cheating, for I do that anyway. The secret to life so I am finding out is just to be happy and that is achieved by being true to yourself, being kind to others and not setting unrealistic goals.
I want to wish you all a wonderful New Year and keep you up to day much more frequently than I have. Hey that could be another resolution, to keep blogging at regular intervals.
Happy New Year

Wow Paperback Also Out As Kindle Download

It was truly amazing to open up Amazon.com and see my paperback listed not only as a paperback but as the Kindle edition. I know that it takes time but I have no patience. The book looks great. The white cover has been replaced by a black one, which I love. It will appear on Amazon.com around Dec. 21. You can buy it now directly from Chipmunkapublishing house. Check out my website which is on the homepage of this blog. The emotions are running rampent. I have waited 5 long years for this and now to have it here is so surreal. My booksigning will begin in the new year, so please watch this blog. Put it into your favorites. Thank you all for you support. The e-book was a huge success and now I know the paperback will be also. Not bad since signing my book contract only 9 months ago. Most publishing houses can take as long as 18-24 months. So I am really happy about it. I am in the process of signing off the last edits and the cover. I cannot believe that I have come this far.I made it.
I will keep you posted as to the exact date of my book's first arrival. Just because I have one book published, this is not the time to get lazy. But I must admit I do have a valid excuse. This year, within two weeks of each other, I became the proud grandmother of two beautiful and healthy baby boys. My column in the local newspaper has also taken up some of my valuable time. Some people call it writer's block;I call it just plain laziness. So now out with those terrible old habits that I call excuses, and in with a new found determination to get on with it.
My sequel to 'Lil's Way' is half way through and it is the continuation of this remarkable woman's life and her story of mental illness.
'Jaded' the sequel will introduce you to new family members and the sagas leading up to this part of Lil's life. Their added mix will plot a very interesting story line regarding one woman's struggle with Dissociative Identity Disorder(DID)and her hopeful cure. It will also deal with her family's new persistance with the plight of having her released from prison and returning home where she belongs.
Hopefully I will have it published within the year. I would like to work on one book a year. That is my goal.
So all I can say is,"Get on with it Colleen."

HERE IS JUST A TASTE OF 'JADED'.

Prologue

The room was dark by choice. The shades of dusk hastily turned grey into black. The night evolved in unison with her emotions. The darker it became, the more her sadness to despair.
Jade always felt that happiness was just a concept of untruths contrived by companies such as Hallmark to increase their revenues at the expense of the lonely heart. Over the last month she has received thousands of meaningless cards of condolence from people she had only encountered once or twice in her life. What did they know of her feelings? Did they really think these dime store phrases could ever replace what was taken from her? Sending nothing would have been better than trivializing the seriousness of the situation.
She reached into the night as if opening the door to her wardrobe only to be outfitted by the security of its blackness. She felt safe. No one could see her sitting in the big armchair that once embraced her mother. If she did not move, she could almost feel her mother’s touch. Many nights she would curl up in the very same chair nestled against the warmth of this wonderful woman. They would share stories and let their imaginations take them far away; a place never to be disclosed to anyone but themselves. Tears began to stream down Jade’s face as the memories surfaced.
She decides at that moment to open the drapes and where the chair was positioned, she had a perfect view of the mountain, her mother’s mountain. Lil had placed the furniture in such a way so as always to see this wonderful sight. For the longest time Jade thought her mother owned the mountain. Tonight it was especially brilliant. The clearness of the night revealed the top of Mount Royal with it’s cross shining brightly. It seemed to be rooting for Lil. It wanted her home. It missed her. Jade could fully understand her mother’s love for Montreal. Lil always said it was her city and as long as Jade would live, she could not think of Montreal without thinking of her mother.
Jade stared at the cross. She prayed for a solution, but there was none in sight. A jury would be selected and Lil’s fate would be left with them. Doctor Miller and Ted would have to find something aside from miraculous to bring her home. How she wished her mother could have had time with Ted. Maybe the urgency of her act would have diminished. Arriving just minutes earlier, might have made all the difference. Jade new in her heart that Ted would have been the only antidote needed to save her mother. If only she had known of her son’s existence it would have given her life a new meaning. With a different scenario they might have been sitting around the table tonight having dinner instead of waiting for this life’s sentence.
A sentence for a murder that was inevitable.

Website No-Nos

Over the last few months I have been trying to design the perfect website. It is not an easy task. I immediately went for color, feeling the brightest and most shocking color would attract attention to my site. I felt it was the only way to go. Wrong. I first had bright pink, then went to bright copper and the latest was emerald green and gold.
They were nice but I did not feel completely attracted to them although colorful indeed. When people commented on my site they would say, "Oh,I loved the pink." Gee, I don't want them to remember the pink, I want them to remember my book, 'Lil's Way.' I wanted them to comment on my synopsis and bio. So what was I doing wrong? I asked and then I checked out several websites that had the most hits. On all of them I noticed that their book covers were the focal point of interest, and why was that?
They downplayed the background colors, which drew more attention to the actual content of the site. BINGO!
So that is why I have done just that. I have created a new website with an appealing eye factor. I love it.
So remember less is more, not more is less.
Check it out. www.colleenbaxtersullivan.com And please sign my questbook. I know I have neglected you but I have been very busy with my new grandsons, and what a wonderful treat they are. Now down to business. After much thought I have finally decided to write for our local newspaper, The Community Connections. I will be doing a column called "COFFEE WITH COLLEEN." I am really excited about this new project. My readers will be asked to sit with me and have a cuppa and we will discuss anything that is newsworthy at the time. After sharing these viewpoints, you can email your opinions to me and they will be posted in the following issue of the newspaper. It will give you a platform as well. How exciting! I will also post the link to the column or post the column itself to my blog(which ever is easier). I look forward to chatting with you and please feel free to contact me at coffeewithcolleen@yahoo.com.
Another bit of news is I will be attending the London Book Fair hopefully next spring. It has been a life long dream of mine and now with my book being published by a UK publisher, it gives me the chance to meet up with them. The sequel to "Lil's Way"is called "Jaded" and it is almost finished. I can't wait to get it published as well. My paperback will be out before Christmas and my book launch for "Lil's Way" will take place in my hometown of Deux-Mongagnes. Where else would I do it? I have had such wonderful support from my family and true friends, so it is only natural to share my success with my community. I am at heart a small town girl.

New Grandsons

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Pwf9wHBc16w/Sjj3shMV0WI/AAAAAAAAAMc/L2eXaA1Kc8M/s200/IMG_1406.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5348296901698900322" />
I know this blog is supposed to be just about my novel but how can I resist talking ab out the loves of my life. Lil’s Way required that Colleen know the particulars of certain specific mental disorders, and she did her homework.
“The publisher says that I have got the character’s disorder exactly,” she said.
However, there is much more to Lil’s Way than a vulnerable, unstable central character who, though dangerous, is more sinned against than sinning. Murder, betrayal, abuse, religion, sex, greed, romance and hope play out their conflicts in a vibrant Montreal from the 1960s to the present. The complex plot and emotional intensity will keep readers riveted from beginning to end. Shining through it all is Colleen’s affection for Montreal – “the city I love!” Expo 67 figures prominently.
The writing and on-going revisions have taken Colleen more than four years. At the same time came trying to find a publisher while she held down a full-time job and looked after her large family. Several large and small companies expressed interest but in the end could not figure what niche the complex story fit into. Still, after nearly 160 rejections, Colleen did not give up.
“I am very persistent. I promised myself that I was going to find a publisher.” After reading the book The Secret, it occurred to her to look outside the regular fiction fields to firms that published books on mental health. A Google search popped up the name Chipmunka Publishing, a company in the United Kingdom looking to branch out from its line of books by mental health practitioners and former patients into fiction.
She submitted, Chipmunka accepted, and suddenly Lil’s Way was available to be downloaded by anyone with a computer for five pounds (about $10.00 Canadian, depending on the exchange rate) by going to http://chipmunkapublishing.co.uk. Payment is by credit card.
The e-book version is selling well, Colleen said, and a print version should be out in Europe within a few months.
Meantime, as she works on the sequel, she hopes that now her acquaintances will realize that she “isn’t just a boring little housewife.” Anyone who has spent 10 minutes in her company could have told her that there is no chance of anybody thinking that.

NEW WEBSITE: www.colleenbaxtersullivan.com

Wow, What a Party!

My family gave me such a wonderful 60th birthday party.I have been wanting a new laptop to help me continue with my second novel and they bought it for me. I am still walking on air and every once in awhile I have to pinch myself and come down to earth. Getting published is not easy but, with enough determination you can do it(providing that you have a good story). I had 159 rejections and I still would not give up. It seemed to fuel my drive, the one that would not take no for an answer. I would not let it get to me.
January of this year was my turning point. I read the book 'The Secret' and it worked. I imagined myself being published. I would visualize myself at book signings and then meeting my many fans.It became so very real.I never stopped visualizing this,no negative thoughts only positive. Then out of the clear something made me see that it was not the novel in itself that was not worthy of being published;it was the subject matter. I was sending it out to the wrong publishers.I had to find a niche publisher that dealt with my topic, mental health issues.Yes, my niche was on mental health topics. My main character Lil is the product of a mental health disorder. I googled mental health publishers and there they were, Chipmunkapublishing house. I contacted them, sent them the manuscript and a wonderful alliance was formed. It all started with reading THE SECRET. What I am trying to get across to you is, never give up. If you are a writer and a good one at that, you just might have to find your niche. Five years later I have my e-book out and later on this year the paperback will follow. Good luck to the unpublished author with a dream. It will happen, never look back, only forward.

My web page is up and running

I have finally completed my website.
Check it out:

www.colleenbaxtersullivan.com

My Book Cover for 'Lil's Way.'

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 155px; height: 200px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Pwf9wHBc16w/SfY-dULaXfI/AAAAAAAAAMM/FFoyF8SxmSs/s200/Lils+Way.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5329515882393263602" />
Wow, I just love my book cover. I bought the rights to this photo from a local photographer Peter Vassilakos. This picture says exactly what I want to say. My book is centered in Montreal. The picture gives you the impression of jail bars, where the story begins with Dr.Miller interviewing Lil and trying to get her released. Also many parts of the novel take place in the Sister House. I feel the picture depicts all of these situations. I am very pleased with the outcome. You can purchase my e-book by going to chipmunkapublishing and clicking on the e-book. You will find 'Lil's Way" to the right, on the bestseller list. It reached this status just two days after it was released March 13th. I am thrilled and cannot wait for the paperback to follow. It will be out sometime in the fall, definitely this year. Many thanks go out to Peter for his wonderful talent and many thanks to all my fans who have kept me on the Bestseller's List.

My first interview today- Lil's Way

Well today I did my first interview. It was for our local newspaper. I felt great, pictures were taken and questions were asked, all relating to 'Lil's Way'. How can you describe in just one interview all the emotions and feelings and the expectations you have regarding your first novel. You put hours of love and labor into this work and you then try to wrap it up in one hour. Impossible! I hope this is just the beginning of better things to come. I cannot wait for the paperback to come out this year so I can start meeting my public. I have a couple of book signings already lined up. Once again thanks to the staff of The Community Connection Newspaper for making my first interview effortless.

Now Number Three

Now this is getting crazy. Part of me feels that I have given my life away. You wait for something for so long and then it is here. 'Lil's Way' now belongs to my London Publisher. I have signed over all publishing rights. It is a bit frightening but exciting at the same time. The copyright(for the word)still is mine but the publisher has the rights to market it as they please. It is in their hands now. I am still walking on air. I cannot believe my chance has finally come. Who would have thought? Soon I will be opening workshops on how to get published. I truly feel my journey is well worth sharing with others. And now I have the credentials. I am officially a published Author. You jump from the title Writer to Author. What a wonderful journey it has been. Finally after five long years and 159 rejections a London(UK) publisher has offered me a contract.
If you are wondering why I took my prologue and synopsis of 'Lil's Way' off my blog it was at the publisher's request.Everything from now on must be passed by them before the book is released.
I came so very close to self-publishing and now I am so very happy that I persisted and waited to go the traditional way. Self-publishing is the easy way out.
This is much the same as getting a degree in the writing field. A publisher finally thinks my work is good enough to invest in me. It is the validation needed within the writing field.
The sky is the limit from now on. Remember when I blogged,"DON'T JUST GET PUBLISHED;GET PUBLISHED GOOD." I mean that more than ever now.
I will now share my new journey with you. The novel The Kite Runner is the best and will be the best novel I have ever read, and I have read many. I saw an interview with the author Khaled Hosseini about his tools for writing. It hit home in such a way I must share it. When I first started writing my novel 'Lil's Way' everyone said to make an outline first. I could not and will not write that way, much too prepared. I just sit at the keyboard and the words flow, ideas form with each word written. I have a general thought process but some of my best plots are ones only developed later while in the actual novel writing.I thought for the longest time maybe I am not doing this correctly but low and behold Khaled Hosseini also writes this way. It inspired me so much. Art is not planned it comes from within and at the most untimely of times. Sometimes I will be wakened in the middle of the night with a new idea and have to go to my computer and write it down.Mr.Hosseini just gave me a writer's validation. I in turn contacted him and told him of his inspiration. There is something to be learned each and every day, especially in the world of writers.

Gone With The Wind

I was feeling terrible the other day because I have sent out 142 query letters and 32 came back rejected. What am I doing wrong? I had to laugh when I found out that Gone With The Wind was rejected 132 times before an agent took them on. I don't feel so bad now that I am traveling in great company. This is getting to be harder than I had previously imagined. I now know that I was acquiring lazy habits because I was sending most of my queries by email. It is so much cheaper than snail mail but the fact is many agents don't open attachments and it is hard to have your work displayed professionally with the copy and paste method on the body of the text. Very difficult to paste 50 pages of a novel. So I have decided to change my tactics. I will send out a very professional proposal package by snail mail and hopefully this will get me the results that I am looking for. It costs about $12.00/pkg. so you can see why I veered toward emailing agents. I sent out 5 proposals yesterday and I must say that I am very impressed with little old me. I keep telling myself that quitting is not an option. I WILL BE PUBLISHED - AND PUBLISHED GOOD. I have not had any negative rejections, just ones telling me that most agents are not taking on any new clients. The market is saturated.Everyone thinks that they are born writers and so few really are. No one has said to rewrite my queries or have they been rude in anyway toward me. In fact they do say my work has merit and that pleases me tremendously. It is a tough market out there but I just know that someone will take me on, even if it is because they are so sick of hearing from me, ha. I was accepted and going to go with a small press house. They wanted my work but I did my research on them and they were not paying their authors their royalty checks on time and many other complaints from their authors, so I did not sign a contract with them. Maybe it was foolish and I might regret it later but my favorite saying is I WILL BE PUBLISHED - AND PUBLISHED GOOD. Always go with your gut. I will keep you posted.

The Lazy Days Of Summer

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp0.blogger.com/_Pwf9wHBc16w/SI4ZhYfvXxI/AAAAAAAAAH8/T_T59OYeoyk/s200/Picture+069.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5228144278725680914" />
Yes, I really mean lazy. I have been neglecting my writing and it is time to re-evaluate the situation. So, big deal, I have sent my work out and yes I have had my share of rejections. Rejection I guess is not the correct word to use. I was talking to a publisher friend of mine and he said sometimes your work just does not fit into the marketing timetable of a particular publisher. It does not mean the work is bad. I just have to be patient and find the correct fit for Lil's Way. The publishing world is much more competitive than I had imagined. I ask myself the question, "Would I still write even if I was never published and live this big success that I dream of?" The answer is always,"yes." So why then do I keep banging my head against a brick wall in search of validation? Writers are their own worst enemies.
A huge literary agent approached me about a month ago and said she was very interested in my manuscript. I sent it out. Now the waiting game is killing me. I just won't think about it anymore and continue writing and see what happens.
My love of the written word is much more appealing than any dollar amount I could receive from a contract. Now if you believe that crap, I will sell you land in the North Pole. Ha.
Anyway, just thought I'd let all my fans know that I am still alive. People keep coming up to me and asking about my work. I will keep you up to date much more often.
Isn't this a great picture of my family. It was taken at our anniversary party, hosted by my five wonderful children. Now that is truly success.

It's time to work harder than ever

I don't know if I mentioned it or not but a publisher was very interested in my work. I did not sign a contract as yet but had been back and forth with them for about a year. One of their editors loved my writing and the other was not quite sure, so they were waiting on a third to make the final decision. I had every inclination that they would publish me, but something happened. Their creditability was questioned. Many writers with this company were not satisfied and posted their complaints. I was devastated at first but after much consideration I decided to withdraw my manuscript from them. I now had to start all over again. My work is precious to me and I want the best representation available. It is not aways easy to find. The publishing world is a very cut-throat business so I am learning. An author friend of mine said,"DON'T JUST GET PUBLISHED, GET PUBLISHED GOOD." I have now sent my work out to several literary agents and will continue with my struggle. I WILL NOT give up. It may take me a life time but Lil's Way will get published, one way or another. So stick with me guys and I will keep you posted on my journey. I have sent out 14 proposals in April, 2 rejections came back already. I am down hearted. But it only takes one yes to begin my journey.

A Great Read

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp0.blogger.com/_Pwf9wHBc16w/R_vXNCwzmBI/AAAAAAAAAHg/Xt6yBQ5USbA/s200/hillary+clinton.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5186976014927108114" /> I have just finished reading Hillary's Clinton's book. I am told it is not her latest but I am so very impressed with this woman and this particular book. I suggest anyone who wants to get to know this lady and her politics or might I say her spirit, you will find all the answers in this book. What a great uplifting read. She was born to be President of the United States. Please go to your local library and read this book. It just might change your mind about who you want to run for president.
I don't usually give my opinions, especially on such a personal subject as politics; it's just I was blown away with this book.

Imagine - Me on People's Magazine

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp1.blogger.com/_Pwf9wHBc16w/R-1VKywzl_I/AAAAAAAAAHQ/zs3llZmJWpQ/s200/safe_image.php.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5182892390086842354" />

Happy Easter Everyone

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp1.blogger.com/_Pwf9wHBc16w/R-O1vSwzl9I/AAAAAAAAAHA/CnDb6cdoxi8/s200/Easter_Buddies_800.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5180183820501227474" /> What a lovely time of the year, all the hopes of Spring and a new beginning. I am looking out my window with the snow piled to the rooftops and am wondering how will the Easter bunny find his way.
Hopefully we will have a melt real soon.
Talking about new beginnings, yesterday I heard from my publisher again, only to be told that another editor is overlooking my work. It would seem that I have a unique way of writing and I am told it is brilliant but hard to categorize. Well that is typically me, hard to put in any one genre. So the waiting game continues but it is well worth it. I have been lucky to even have a publisher contemplate my manuscript. Some writers wait years to be discovered and my publisher has been with me right from the start.
So have a great Easter weekend and I will keep you posted.

HAPPY SAINT PATRICK'S DAY

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp1.blogger.com/_Pwf9wHBc16w/R9xoWr_x_EI/AAAAAAAAAG4/gMGUIvE1dIA/s200/CE67B_B_Leprechauns.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5178128410545880130" />
May your blessings outnumber

The Shamrocks that grow.

And may trouble avoid you

Wherever you go.
THE LUCK OFTHE IRISH BE WITH YOU

Only the Irish have Jokes Like These
Into a Belfast pub comes Paddy Murphy, looking like he'd just been run over by a train. His arm is in a sling, his nose is broken, his face is cut and bruised and he's walking with a limp
"What happened to you?" asks Sean, the bartender.
"Jamie O'Conner and me had a fight," says Paddy.
"That little shit, O'Conner," says Sean, "He couldn't do that to you, he must have had something in his hand."
"That he did," says Paddy, "a shovel is what he had, and a terrible lickin' he gave me with it."
"Well," says Sean, "you should have defended yourself, didn't you have something in your hand?"
That I did," said Paddy. "Mrs. O'Conner's breast, and a thing of
beauty it was, but useless in a fight."

An Irishman who had a little too much to drink is driving home from the city one night and, of course, his car is weaving violently all over the road.
A cop pulls him over.
"So," says the cop to the driver, where have ya been?"
"Why, I've been to the pub of course," slurs the drunk.
"Well," says the cop, "it looks like you've had quite a few to drink this evening.
"I did all right," the drunk says with a smile.
"Did you know," says the cop, standing straight and folding his arms across his chest, "that a few intersections back, your wife fell out of your car?"
"Oh, thank heavens," sighs the drunk.
"For a minute there, I thought I'd gone deaf."

Brenda O'Malley is home making dinner, as usual, when Tim Finnegan arrives at her door.
"Brenda, may I come in?" he asks. There was an accident down at the Guinness brewery..."
"Oh, God no!" cries Brenda. "Please don't tell me."
"I must, Brenda. Your husband Shamus is dead and gone. I'm sorry."
Finally, she looked up at Tim. "How did it happen, Tim?"
"It was terrible, Brenda. He fell into a vat Of Guinness Stout and drowned."
"Oh my dear Jesus! But you must tell me the truth, Tim. Did he at least go quickly?"
"Well, Brenda... no. In fact, he got out three times to pee."

Mary Clancy goes up to Father O' Grady after his Sunday morning service, and she's in tears.
H e says, "So what's bothering you, Mary my dear?"
She says, "Oh, Father, I've got terrible news. it's a bad one.

Both of their cars are totally demolished but amazingly neither of them are hurt.. God works in mysterious ways.

After they crawl out of their cars, the man is yelling about women drivers; the woman says, "So you're a man. That's interesting. I'm a woman. Wow, just look at our cars! There's nothing left, but we're unhurt. This must be a sign from God that we should meet and be friends and live together in peace for the rest of our days."

Flattered, the man replies, "Oh yes, I agree with you completely, this must be a sign from God! But your still at fault...women shouldn't be allowed to drive."

The woman continues, "And look at this, here's another miracle. My car is completely demolished but this bottle of wine didn't break. Surely God wants us to drink this wine and celebrate our good fortune."

Then she hands the bottle to the man. The man nods his head in agreement, opens it and drinks half the bottle and then hands it back to the woman. The woman takes the bottle and immediately puts the cork back on, and hands it back to the man. The man asks, 'Aren't you having any?'

The woman replies, "No. I think I'll just wait for the police...."

A Special Tribute To Michael

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp3.blogger.com/_Pwf9wHBc16w/R7CyxogfZzI/AAAAAAAAAGo/A76bDQWkA00/s200/2005_1023Image0003.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5165825338350987058" />
<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp3.blogger.com/_Pwf9wHBc16w/R67zUIgfZyI/AAAAAAAAAGg/6vcsZw2wVGg/s200/DSCF0249.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5165333349847230242" /> Today we are celebrating my husband, Mike's 65th birthday, although the actual date was February 5th. What can I say about this wonderful man, my soul mate, my life. We will also be married 20 years this year and it has been the best journey of my life. We met when my life was in desperate need of repair and he has been there for me continuously. He is my number one fan. Thank you my love for always supporting me in my dreams, and a very Happy Birthday.
